#beyondthebook Activity - Four Season Tree
In this simple beyond the book activity inspired by A Forest's Season, you can create your own four season tree artwork using cotton wool balls. This is a great activity to prompt discussion about nature and how the trees change.
To set up this activity, you'll need:
- 4 x sheets of paper (thick paper or cardboard works best)
- Cotton wool balls
- Glue (liquid works best)
- 2 x toilet rolls
- Scissors
- Paint - especially green, orange, red, yellow, brown, pink
Step 1: Cut a paper roll in half lengthwise and glue one half onto the paper. Glue cotton wool balls on top of the paper roll.
Step 2: Repeat this step four times (to represent the four season's trees)
Step 3: Paint each season's tree with the corresponding colours:
SUMMER - green paint only
AUTUMN - a mix of red, yellow, orange and brown paint
WINTER - leave white to represent snow, alternatively don't glue any cotton wool balls onto the winter tree at all!
SPRING - a mix of green and pink paint (pink to represent blossoms)
Have fun!
